Measurements of near-surface wind speed and direction, temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, shortwave and longwave downwelling radiation, surface temperature (determined from infrared measurement), cloud base height, cloud fraction and backscatter profiles, visibility, precipitation type and intensity, and the corresponding the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) weather codes, from the seas of the eastern Canadian Arctic archipelago and Northern Greenland in July, August and September 2019.
The dataset provides rare high quality meteorological observations from sea-ice regions. They enable analysis of meteorological conditions and provide context for other measurements and analysis associated with the expeditions.
Measurements are from the MISU weather station installed on icebreaker Oden’s 7th deck at 25 m above sea level during the Ryder 2019 and NorthWest Passage 2019 expeditions to the Canadian Arctic and Northern Greenland fjords. Additional measurements of temperature and humidity were also made on Oden’s foremast at 20 m above sea level.
