Hydrometeor classification from ceilometer profiles in Arctic stations

This dataset collates ceilometer attenuated backscatter profiles from instruments operating in various networks:

  • IASOA (International Arctic Systems for Observing the Atmosphere),
  • ACTRIS (Aerosol Cloud and Trace Gas Infrastructure network),
  • GAW (Global Atmospheric Watch),
  • National networks,

and produces a classification designed to identify the presence of aerosol, liquid, ice, precipitation, fog. Ceilometer instruments include: Vaisala CT25K, Vaisala CL31, Vaisala CL51, Lufft CHM15K.

The data set contains

  • calibrated attenuated backscatter profile
  • liquid layer base height (supercooled liquid layer base)
  • hydrometeor classification
